Collections

Physical Collection in UOWCHK are mainly books, some AV martials, Newspaper and Magazine.  The Collections are mainly in English and Chinese, some are other languages. Library users may search for these materials on the Library catalogue and request them at the Circulation Counter. The majority of books in the Library can be checked out for a loan period according to the borrowing regulations.

Starting from January 2021, all collections currently grouped under the Library of Congress (LC) Classification Scheme will be re-classified under the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) Scheme by stages. 

Type of Collection:

  • General Collection
    This collection consists of books, mainly written in English and Chinese, which majority are available for loans.
  • Reference Collection
    This collection contains tools to help users in their research, study and current information needs. These handy tools include dictionaries, encyclopedias, guidebooks, handbooks, directories, etc. This collection is not available for loan.
  • Teaching Materials Collection
    This collection could only be borrowed by teaching staff. They are located in Closed Stack and with a color label in the book spine.
  • Foreign Language Collection
    This collection consists of books, mainly written in other Languages beside English and Chinese, which majority are available for loans.
  • Oversize Collection
    This collection contains books that are size over 30cm, which are available for loans.
  • Newspaper and Magazine
